We are proud to feature the work of local artists in The Hair and Face Lounge! Beginning in June 2010, a local artist by the name of Kyra Platt will be featured. Her artwork is on display and is for sale - come on down and check it out!

Kyra Platt is a Sophomore at NC State and will be a major in Graphic Design, with a minor in arts studies. Kyra came to NC State last year with a full athletic scholarship as a gymnast, but unfortunately fractured her back and had to resign her position on the team. At first she thought she had lost everything that she had, but soon came to realize this devastating event had turned into a blessing. That is, because Kyra had to stop doing gymnastics (her first love) she was now able to focus all of her attention toward art.

Kyra has had a strong love for art and all things creative for as long as she could walk! Her inspiration mainly comes from her dreams, nature, and studies of women, which has led her to appreciate the female form colorfully and tastefully. She tries to make art that makes people say “WOW” because she truly loves seeing the expressions on the faces of the people who enjoy it.

Kyra earned her high school degree at Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers Florida. She now resides in Raleigh, North Carolina where she coaches part time at Raleigh School of Gymnastics.

Nicole recently won 1st place for the design in the category of Creative/Artistic Hair at a benefit Fashion/Hair Show supporting Save Our Sisters of Rex.
